Been looking at switching to GW2 from SWTOR, but most of the MORPGs I've looked at don't have cohorts like in SWTOR, which is my fave thing about the game. But I'm still curious about it, so how is it?
I've been really hard trying to figure out what to do with myself now that I've given up on SWTOR. I want a game that's fun to play, not just a mindless grind to reach max level so I can grind PvP or something. I've never really been big on the MMO thing so I'm really at a loss. Especially since all of the RPGs I normally would be going for instead have gotten sucky reviews.
GW2 has a quick "grind" to max level. Once your there, there isn't the boring "gear grind" or "treadmill" that other games call content. Other than the initial cost, you can play GW2 completely free. Yes it has a cash shop, but really I've yet to come across anything I needed to buy from it.
Yeah that sounds like most MMOs, which is why I haven't bothered with most of them. I enjoy playing games to test my tactical skills vs the enemies as much as seeing what kind of cool stuff I find. Once you have reached max level, there isn't a lot of point to playing IMHO. I just don't care for PvP at all, I've never played a game that had PvP that I thought was fun. Nearly every game the PvP is just a test to see how well you can rape the mechanics, tactics and talent play no real part. I also got really burned out on RP after four years of playing Neverwinter Nights. I finally reached a point where I just didn't care about the BS involved in online RP. So, even though the game looks cool, and I really like the idea of customizable costuming, I need play content.
And of course, really cool render.
Mechanics are like most MMO's. And in terms of story, well it has less than ToR, but far more than say a WoW.
